A letter to Victoria's Secret

All Executives:

For Christmas, my boyfriend gave me a Victoria's Secret gift card. I am sure I am not the only female to receive this exact gift from a boyfriend/lover/husband on the very same day. Every man wants their woman to feel pretty and sexy. You have marketed well to the males of our nation. On New Year's Day, he and I went to our local store to pick out some items. Although a sale was advertised, every item I bought happened to not be 'on sale'.

My main complaint is the customer service, or lack of customer service. I asked an associate to show me which bras were and were not on sale, of which she couldn't answer. She told me to look for the signs, which do not say what type or models were on sale, just "SALE 25% off". The signs were on the counters, where bras are constantly misplaced.

I also asked the same associate to measure me, which was an unpleasant experience, to say the least. She asked me what size I thought I was, to which I replied, "36D. That's what I wear now."
The VS associate, with a smugness, told me I was wrong, she was measuring me as a 36C. I have not been able to keep myself contained in a C cup for quite some time, I was actually thinking I might have increased to a 38 or even a DD. She told me, "Well, you must have some hidden depth that I can't measure with my tape. You can try this on at home, just leave the tags on." She didn't even let me try on the various sizes in the store!! She was more than rude, she was insulting.
In this time, with the economy how it is and franchises closing up shop daily, you would think a well advertised and well known store like Victoria's Secret would strive to keep the customers it has and try to gain others. Instead, I see VS as a snob driven mecca, where you are increasing prices, reducing quality, and marketing towards the preteens and tweens.

Ten years ago, I thought very highly of Victoria's Secret. It was a place to pick out something pretty and sexy that made me feel good about myself, something underneath my clothes that made me feel pretty. I could always get 5 pairs of panties for $25, and they were quality panties, made of a nice, thick cotton with an elastic band that didn't dig into my skin, leave panty lines, or unravel or fray quickly. Nowadays, your cotton panties are of lesser quality, are cheaply made, and don't last. They do not deserve the Victorias Secret name along the waistband. Current bras all look the same and are made of synthetic fibers that cause you to sweat.

I know this is a lot to ask for, but can you make a bra that does the job its supposed to? How about a bra that doesn't cost $40, actually works and supports our boobs, and is pretty? Is that too much to ask for?

When I walked in to my local VS on New Years Day, the greeter asked me if I was looking for something specific. When I told her something "pretty in a 36D", she made a sad face and told me to go in the back room. She also warned me there isn't a lot to choose from at that size. What?? You mean to tell me a lingerie store that specializes in cutting edge and design doesn't have many items to choose from for the D cup (unless you are mis-sized by your snotty associates) and larger?? This is ridiculous!! C'mon! Get a clue. Most women are mis-sized. Haven't you seen the BBC documentary, "My Big Boobs and Me" or "My Small Boobs and Me"??? One female claimed she was a C cup, only to find out she was completely mis-sized and was an F. Can I even find an F cup bra at Victoria's Secret?

Well, unfortunately, I still have money on my giftcard. Its a good thing you sell other items, like body sprays.

Victoria's Secret needs a big change. You have fallen overboard, and adult women everywhere are getting sick of your antics. Please, for the sake of all women, large and small breasted: Start making bras and panties that are of higher quality, even of natural fibers, regain the pretty and sexy factor without looking cheap and skanky, and start to train your associates that this is an intimate apparel store: where discrection should be used, quiet voices should be used, and kindness should be used. Help those who have different sized breasts. Why don't you create a handwash detergent to keep our delicates delicate. Maybe even offer laundering bags for those items that can be washed in a machine. Offer the same items to all sizes. And, let people try on your bras in the store!! Don't douse us with four different scents and perfumes as we walk from room to room. If you are focusing on selling your cologne, its because its not worth focusing on your lingerie.

Thank you,
